Elsie was the kindest, most caring, and truly inspirational little girl, the best big sister and we were privileged to be her Mum and Dad.
In July last summer, our world was shattered when we lost Elsie in the most tragic circumstances during the Southport attack. That day changed our lives forever, leaving our family broken.
We have established Elsie’s Story to continue her legacy and to spread smiles as big as hers. We refuse to let what happened define our little girl or our town. Instead, we choose to respond with love and positivity, the same love Elsie brought to us and those around her.
Elsie’s Story allows us to turn heartbreak into hope, bringing joy to other children. Our charity was founded to make grants in Elsie’s name, supporting young people and helping children in the community. This includes funding local projects, providing medical care and support to families and individuals, and contributing to causes that bring people together through joy- filled activities.
In addition to our grant-making activities, our Board of Trustees is committed to identifying and supporting meaningful causes beyond our immediate scope.
One critical issue we have recognised, following us looking for additional support for Elsie’s younger sister, is the need for bereavement support for children in our local area. The nearest centre is over 30 miles away and operates infrequently. In response, we are exploring the possibility of establishing a local bereavement support centre to ensure children and families have access to the care they need.
We are also committed to the long-term well-being of our community, which was deeply affected by last summer’s events. Many children and parents are still living in fear, and while schools provide vital support, there is only so much they can do. A whole generation of children has been impacted, and we are determined to help them heal. We are working with professionals and exploring partnerships to ensure we can make this happen, so that fear does not define their childhood, but instead, hope, resilience, and joy take its place.
This charity has given us purpose, and just as we found comfort in the messages of support after the tragedy, we now find strength in the generosity of those who support us. Every fundraiser, every donation is proof that we will not let evil win.
We are determined to make a difference. With your support, we can turn our vision into real, meaningful change. Together, we can continue writing the pages of Elsie’s Story, carrying forward her kindness, hope, and generosity.
Much love,
